Should you suspect bedbugs in your home, a thorough inspection should be done in all areas where you sleep or rest. Be mindful that bedbugs can fit into the tiniest of cracks and crevices.
Begin your search with your sheets, pillows and blankets. Check for live bugs, blood smears or fecal stains and cast skin or molting’s. Then, move on to the piping, seams and tufts of the mattress.
In early stages, you may not find anything at all. If you are dealing with an "infestation", you will certainly find signs.
Areas to focus your inspection on:
Seams, creases, tufts, and folds of the mattress and box spring
Cracks in the bed frame and headboard, and all screw holes
Between the cushions of upholstered furniture
Edges of carpets especially behind the bed
Between the folds of drapery or curtains
Night stand drawers, dressers, etc.
Behind the baseboards
Around door and window casings
Behind electrical switch and outlet covers
Under loose wallpaper, peeling paint, paintings, posters, etc.
